Jo is currently the Chair of the NQA Board of Directors and of the Events Committee. She says about her own journey to Qigong:
For two decades, I taught writing at various universities, guiding students through the intricacies of language, critical thinking, and self-expression.
But life is a tapestry and my path’s weaving took a new direction. I traded ink-stained pages for the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. After leaving UW-Green Bay, I owned two coffee shops in Madison, creating cozy havens where conversations flowed as freely as the espresso.
Yet, my journey wasn't complete. Driven by my own pain initially and then a desire to bring healing to others, I became a certified medical exercise specialist and Qigong teacher. These seemingly disparate professions converged within me, and I discovered their beautiful synergy.
Now, I blend the art of movement with the serenity of meditation. My clients and students learn not only how to strengthen their bodies from a physiological standpoint, but also how to nurture their souls. Through Qigong's gentle flow and mindful practices, we find balance—the sweet spot where healing and growth intertwine.
Each chapter of my life has woven threads of teaching and learning. And as I guide others, I continue to evolve and embrace the artful dance of existence.
