Dr. Matthew F. Komelski, PhD is a Taiji and Qigong coach and Organizing Chair of the Hunyuan Taiji Association of Virginia. His academic training is developmental science and gerontology. He is an Advanced Instructor and Director of the Adaptive Brain and Behavior Minor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Virginia Tech. He has certifications in a range of mindfulness-based practice (MBP) programs, including the Koru Mindfulness Program, Evidence-based Qigong and Taiji, and traditional Hunyuan Qigong and Taiji. His research interests include the use of MBPs to build resilience, support recovery and wellbeing across the lifespan. Dr. Komelski has collaborated with researchers and clinicians on several projects to develop mindfulness-based clinical and experimental protocol to manage anxiety disorder, support recovery from traumatic brain injures and promote post traumatic growth.
