I began training in martial arts in 1978, as a way to protect myself from the violence of bullies and adults who had, and would cause me physical, mental and emotional harm. From high school and serving in the US Navy, to training and teaching full contact fighting, the PTS(d) driven anger I depended on, was my strongest ally. Then I met my wife, and later, three beautiful boys joined our family. It was in that moment that the anger, which had protected me all those years, was now squarely in the way of a meaningful relationship with my family. However, I was afraid I would become weak if I let it go. It was "all or nothing" in my head. I was either a warrior or a victim. PERIOD.
In 1991, as part of my Kung Fu training, I was introduced to Tai Chi and Qigong. My life began to change. I began to see the internal power within the external stillness. Through deeper structural integration, I was able to learn how to manage my own chronic pain and begin healing my body and eventually, the buried pain of mental and emotional anguish. As my Qigong practice deepened, I gained the internal strength to trust myself and feel safe in my body, maybe for the first time in my life. Each small success gave the me courage to continue the healing process in earnest. Setbacks had simply become lessons in going deeper. A journey I am still on today.
Through my own healing journey, I have developed a deep compassion for those in physical, mental and emotional pain. My strength is in helping people listen and learn about themselves; deeply. I use the many layers of my personal experience and breadth of training to provide my patients and students perspective shifts and cultivation tools for their journey. Train with me and you will learn that the most powerful healing path, starts from within. Are you ready?
This "Heart Work" is my life's calling.
